OPENING DATES

Each year our opening dates are somewhat dependent on the weather. You may call 530 620-5017 for a recorded message to check on bloom status. For 2024 opening date is scheduled for May 1. We are open Wednesday through Sunday 10 to 5 or by appointnent for other days. If it looks like good bloom earlier than May 1 the schedule may be adjusted.

Admission Fee is $5.00 per person. Kids under 12 free. We will have scattered benches and a few tables to sit at in family groups but there are no trash cans here for your garbage. Pack it in- pack it out. Also, there are no orders taken at the garden. We provide a pencil and paper to take down the number and name of what interests you and you order online at bluebirdhavenirisgarden.com.

Bluebird Haven Iris Garden is located south of Placerville, California, and east of Sacramento, in the wine country of southern El Dorado County. Our address is 6940 Fairplay Road, Somerset, CA 95684. Please note: sometime navigation directions show Screeh Owl Lane as part of our address-it isn't but it sometimes shows up on the map which is our driveway.

Driving time near Placerville is about half an hour from Highway 50. From Highway 50 take the Missouri Flat exit south to Pleasant Valley Road; turn L (east) and follow Pleasant Valley to E16 (Mt. Aukum Rd.); turn R and go south on E16. (You may take a shortcut by turning right off Pleasant Valley Road onto Bucks Bar Road to Mt. Aukum Rd. then turn R), and turn left onto Fairplay Rd. Watch for our sign in the next 1/4 mile on the right.

Driving time from Sacramento is about one hour. From Sacramento you can also take Highway 16 east to Plymouth; Follow the signs to River Pines via E16 by turning R at the roundabout in Plymouth, stay on the main road, Highway 16. Turn R onto Fairplay Rd, and watch for our sign.
